Stay at home or work and pay for child care?

I have 4 children (11,9,6,3). The 4 olders ones are obvioulsy at school all day. The youngest starts school nursery in September and will be in school every morning.
There is a private nursery nearby who will collect kids from school nursery at lunchtime until the afternoon. I'd obviously have to pay for those afternoon sessions.
I'm wondering whether it's worth looking for a 9:30-2:30 job and then paying for these extra sessions. I'm not sure what part time work is available locally, but I don't want to work simply to pay the child care fees! I need to have some left at the end of the day!
